Pathological Description: There are multiple layers of irregular subperiosteal new compact bone across the whole bone with irregular islands of smooth compact bone on the lateral surface of the shaft and spicules of bone at the attachment of the interosseous membrane. There are extensive changes to the distal metaphysis including a mixture of subperiosteal new compact, woven bone, and inflammatory pitting. There is destruction of the distal joint surface and, although taphonomy is obscuring some of the surface, possible ankylosis of the tibia and fibula distally.
