Pathological Description: Medial surface - There is striated subperiosteal new compact bone on the middle 3/4 of the shaft and inflammatory pitting and an area of subperiosteal woven bone on the distal 1/4 of the shaft. Posterior surface - There is irregular subperiosteal new compact bone on the lateral border and slight striated subperiosteal compact bone on the medial border. Lateral surface - There is an extensive build up of layers of striated and irregular subperiosteal new compact bone with irregular islands of smooth compact bone originating from the attachment of the interosseous membrane. There is an area of subperiosteal new woven bone on the distal 1/3. There are irregular spicules and nodules of bone at the attachment sites of ligaments and muscles proximally.
