Pathological Description: There is inflammatory pitting of the lateral and plantar surface of the cuboid and bases of the fourth and fifth metatarsals with ankylosis of the cuboid and the bases of the fourth and fifth metatarsals. There is ankylosis of the 4th and fifth metatarsal shafts with plantar subluxation of the fifth metatarsal and ankylosis of a remnant of a absorbed proximal phalanx to the absorbing head of the fifth metatarsal. The shaft of the fourth metatarsal has knife-edge remodelling and ankylosis of the remains of the base of a absorbed proximal phalanx with loss of the metatarsophalangeal joint.
